Grannies: Africa's Well of Hope
This granny, living in a town in eastern Kenya, was able to coax milk from her breast to nurse her hungry grandchild after her daughter died. The granny was too poor to buy a cow, she explained, so she had no other choice. She is part of vast network of aging women across Africa who are keeping families together as communities collapse under the strain of HIV/AIDS.
